Informatics Europe Curriculum Award

Created to recognize outstanding European educational initiatives that improve the quality of informatics teaching and the attractiveness of the discipline. This initiative aims on the long term to cover the whole spectrum of the Informatics curricula, every year a different area will be the focus of the award. In 2011 the focus area is Parallelism and Concurrency and the 30000 EUR Award sponsored by Intel.

Department Evaluation

Informatics Europe through the Department Evaluation initiative offers assessment of research quality in Informatics, Computer Science and IT Departments and Research Institutes in Europe and beyond.

This evaluation process proposed by Informatics Europe offers an unbiased and transparent way of assessing the research activities of a given department and provides them with a thorough analysis that will contribute to identify strengths, opportunities and aspects that could be improved. Such activity is currently of strategic importance because too often this kind of assessment is delegated to external agencies, whose criteria fail to single out the special aspects of research and its products in our field.

Reports

Informatics Europe was created as a result of the first two European Computer Science Summits, October 2005 and October 2006, where heads of computer science departments from all over the European region joined forces for the first time to define and promote common policies and study common issues. From this initial step a number of working groups were convened and produced influential reports, publications and presentations, available for download.
