The Faculty of Informatics of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), located in beautiful Lugano, Switzerland, invites young researchers to apply for an Assistant Professor position in Computational Energy. The position will be associated with the Institute of Computational Science (ICS).
The Faculty of Informatics at USI was established in October 2004 and offers BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees with an innovative, project-based, and interdisciplinary curriculum. The official teaching language of the Faculty is English. The Institute of Computational Science was established in 2008 and is one of the leading institutes in that field in Switzerland.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct world-class research and to contribute to teaching at all levels. Applicants with strong research records in the areas of modeling, simulation, and the development of numerical and computational methods are welcome. This includes, in particular, numerical methods and data assimilation techniques for partial differential equations. Close cooperation is expected with the "Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research, Supply of Electricity" (SCCER-SoE). Moreover, contributing to the ongoing cooperation of USI with the Swiss Supercomputing Center (CSCS) is desirable.
