Call for Nominations: Be IE's Next Board Directors

We are looking for new Board Directors for the term 2023-2024!

Informatics Europe needs individuals who are willing to dedicate time and energy to work on our association's issues on behalf of our membership. Board Directors are expected to actively engage (on average, half a day per week) in Informatics Europe's activities, and to contribute to setting its strategy for sustainable development.

The Board is responsible for overseeing the operations and finances of Informatics Europe (see more details on the Informatics Europe Bylaws). It meets as a whole once a month via a one-hour virtual conference and three times per year for full-day face-to-face meetings. Of these, one is in conjunction with our annual European Computer Science Summit (ECSS). Board Directors are expected to self-support travel expenses incurred through their role.

Board Directors are expected to be active in at least one of the High-Level Activities (HLAs) run by the association, which are core domains strategically important for its development. Examples of HLAs include Policy Recommendations, Promoting Diversity, Societal Impact, Education and Research. Each HLA is led by a Board Director, who can also chair one of the active Working Groups, or promote new ones. Additionally, each Board Director is expected to take an active role in initiatives for Increasing Membership, which is a HLA itself.

Regular members can nominate candidates for the Board, and individuals can also nominate themselves. All candidates must be affiliated with a regular member of Informatics Europe and have shown commitment to contributing to the informatics community. Terms in the Board last 2 years and Board Directors can be re-elected, if actively contributing, for another two terms.

Nomination process:

To self-nominate yourself, please fill in this form (also accessible on the top right of the page here). For institution’s nominations, please ask the nominee(s) to fill in the nomination form, or send at most two names to Elisabetta Di Nitto (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), the current Chair of the Board Nomination Committee (BNC). Given the current situation of underrepresentation of women in our Board, if you send two nominations, at least one must be a female candidate.

All nominations received will be carefully screened by the BNC and evaluated with respect to geographical distribution, gender balance, research area diversity, distribution of member institution size, the balance between academic and industrial representation, and seniority.

Based on the nominations received by July 15, 2022, the BNC will propose a short list that the Board will use as a basis to contact candidates for the 2023-2024 term (nominations received after July 15 will be considered for the following terms). The candidates that will commit to taking part in the work of the board will be proposed to the General Assembly for election. Current and past Board members can be found on: https://www.informatics-europe.org/about/board.html
