Latest highlights of our conference program:

  • Leaders Workshop
Digital transformation does not only change the way we work, but also the way we think about work. What can academic and research informatics leaders do to provide a motivating and enriching culture at the workplace? How can they devise processes for onboarding, retention and continuous productivity of the workforce in their respective institutions? Join our workshop: get and share unique take-home messages and best practice examples to further enhance your digital dexterity as leaders!
  • Professional Development Workshop for Early Career Researchers
Want to dive into the range of career alternatives available for early career researchers in the age of digital transformation? Come and exchange with industry and academic research leaders! As early career researchers, you have the option to join only the workshop or the entire ECSS with a reduced fee. Limited number of travel grants are also available. Find out more here.
  • Open Science and the Future of Informatics Research Dissemination
Open Science – a dream or a reality? This year at the session jointly organized with our member National Informatics Associations, we will discuss about the future and challenges of informatics research dissemination. A selection of background materials are now available on our workshop homepage and you are invited to help us customize the workshop: please share and fill in this pre-event questionnaire with your colleagues on or before 9 October. We look forward to discussing with you the results during the workshop!

Higher Education Data Portal: Member Exclusive Updates

Three years since we have launched our Higher Education Data Portal, we celebrate the data collection of higher education in informatics, covering over 20 European countries and 10 years of data, such as statistics of students awarded at different degree levels, and comparative analysis of certain key academic positions and salaries. We express our gratitude to everyone who has contributed to our Portal, which has become one of the most valued IE services.

Our Data Portal is one of a kind in Europe. The first five-year dataset is publicly available whereas IE members can enjoy the exclusive access to our full dataset and much-needed data about academic salaries after a quick registration on our IE website with your institutional email address. You can also enable or accelerate projects and collaborations of informatics research and education in Europe by contributing to our data collection, analysis and reporting. Please contact Svetlana Tikhonenko or join our permanent data analysis and reporting working group.

Supporting Digital Humanism and Other Activities for IE Community

Two postgraduate students from our member institutes: TU Wien's Faculty of Informatics & Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam’s Department of Computer Science received our scholarships to attend the Digital Humanism Summer School 2022 this September in Vienna, Austria. The Summer School is organized by the DIGHUM: the Digital Humanism initiative supported and co-organized by Informatics Europe, TU Wien and other partners. We congratulate the students and wish them a rewarding experience at the Summer School!

We would also like to thank our industrial member Bending Spoons for inviting and sponsoring 6 professors from our community to the Synapse in Milan this July. The Synapse is a symposium featuring talks and poster sessions with globally respected voices in the field of AI, to address significant advancements in the field. We look forward to bringing more industry and academic experts together in support of informatics advancements!
