The Leonardo Campus of Politecnico di Milano is located at Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, 32.
How to reach the Leonardo Campus by public transportation
Here are basic directions to reach the Campus from the Central Station (train station) and from the three Milano Airport.
It is a 10-15 min. trip from Linate airport and from Central Station. It takes about 1 hour from Malpensa and Orio al Serio airports.
Approximate costs: about 20 Euro from Linate, 85 Euro from Malpensa and Orio al Serio, about 20 Euro from Central Station.
The ECSS 2011 includes a set of very special social events. Beyond the already traditional conference dinner on Tuesday evening, that this year will take place in the authentic Ristorante Orti di Leonardo serving the best traditional Italian food, ECSS participants will have the opportunity to visit one of the most famous cultural sites of the world: the Leonardo da Vinci's master piece: "The Last Supper (L'ultima Cena)" at the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie, UNESCO world Heritage site. The visit is scheduled for Tuesday just after the end of the day's program and before the conference dinner.
Due to the enormous interest and touristic demand of the site, it has been very challenging to organize the visit for a group with numerous participants. To facilitate this organization we kindly ask all members that plan to attend the conference but have not registered yet to register as soon as possible!
Additional optional concert on Monday November 07
For those interested, the ECSS local organization has the possibility of getting discounted tickets for a concert of classic music in the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi on Monday November 7th. The concert Viva l'Italia, of the Quartetto Accardo, featuring pieces of Cherubini, Paganini and Verdi, starts at 21h in the Sala Verdi of the Conservatorio.
Note that this concert is not part of the regular program and should be paid separately. Interested people must send a message to Ms. Laura Caldirola (

In this rapidly changing face of technology and academy across Europe and the world, department chairs at informatics groups face ever-increasing challenges. The goal of the workshop is to provide a networking opportunity for department chairs, old and new, to share experiences, common challenges, and best practices. It provides a forum for strengthening your leadership and management competencies by exchanging best practices and by building relationships among department heads at European Informatics research institutions. The workshop will be a mixture of discussions/knowledge sharing in smaller groups and plenary sessions. Please bring the issues you are facing and approaches you have found to work.
The workshop focuses on the role of the department chair in setting goals and defining success criteria. Both new and experienced department heads are invited for an exchange of best practices, new ideas and common challenges.
