Within the Louvain School of Engineering (EPL) and the Institute for Information and Communication Technologies, Electronics and Applied Mathematics (ICTM), part of the Science and Technology Sector, this position will include the following teaching, research and community service duties:
You will teach mainly in the fields of cybersecurity and software security, as well as general computer science courses. You will conduct your teaching in the Bachelor’s degree programs in Computer Science in Louvain-la-Neuve and Charleroi, in the Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and in the Master’s degree programs in Computer Science Engineering, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity in Louvain-la-Neuve, and potentially in other master's programs at EPL. Bachelor’s courses are mainly taught in French, while Master’s courses are exclusively taught in English. You will also be expected to supervise Master’s theses.
You will develop your research activities, including the lead of research programs, in the fields of cybersecurity and software security, with international expertise in one or more areas of software security, such as security of web systems or operating systems, or formal methods and programming language research applied to security. The targeted application areas include, but are not limited to, security of cyber-physical systems, interactions between security and machine learning, security measures and usability aspects of security, security of distributed systems, as well as anonymity and privacy issues. Preference may be given to candidates who develop themes complementary to the (cyber)security research currently being conducted within the ICTM institute.
You will also supervise doctoral theses.
Once tenured, you will carry out various service activities and responsibilities within the institution, such as being a member of a programme committee or examination committee, or having management responsibilities within the faculty or research institute.
You will also contribute to serving society, particularly in the economic, social, cultural or development cooperation fields. Finally, you will ensure, through research and teaching activities, the university’s international visibility.
You have a PhD. You have supplemented this with an extended stay or significant experience abroad, outside the institution that awarded your doctorate.
You have a proven track record in university teaching, with evidence where possible by formal evaluations. Your scientific experience is demonstrated by publications of international standing.
You are comfortable working as part of a team of academics and integrate research results into your teaching. You are capable of conducting high-level scientific research, from obtaining funding to team management. You are creative, open to pedagogical innovation and multidisciplinary.
You can communicate in French and English. If this is not the case, you undertake to acquire a command of these two languages within two years of taking up your position. Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
