Informatics Europe invites nominations for the 4th edition Informatics Europe Best Dissertation Award, recognising outstanding PhD dissertations in Informatics and highlighting emerging research excellence across Europe.
Informatics Europe Best Dissertation Award 2026

Award: EUR 3,000 (sponsored by Springer)
Additional recognition: Invitation to publish in a dedicated Springer series
All Informatics Europe members may nominate or endorse an outstanding PhD dissertation defended in the calendar year 2025.
The Award Committee will evaluate nominations based on:
- originality of research and methodology
- impact and quality of achieved results
- societal relevance
- clarity and quality of exposition
In the event of equal top scores, the dissertation with the highest societal impact score will be selected.
The winner will be invited to present their work at the European Informatics Leaders Summit (ECSS 2026, Porto, Portugal) and to publish in a dedicated Springer series.
If the winning dissertation is already published with an ISBN or under copyright protection, the publishing opportunity will be offered to the best unpublished nomination.
