Call for contributions

Next submission deadline: 31 Oct 2026

IE Perspectives invites contributions from across the Informatics Europe community, including deans and department heads, researchers, educators, and in particular, members of IE Working Groups. We particularly invite articles that align with one of the magazine’s core sections:

  • Foundations: stories of European foundational Informatics research whose long-term scientific impact has shaped disciplines, technologies, and society.
  • Trends: forward-looking analyses of emerging research areas, educational developments, or structural changes affecting Informatics as a discipline.
  • Research Advances: accessible presentations of significant research projects, illustrating scientific progress and collaborative potential across Europe.
  • Leading Practices: descriptions of transferable experiences, proven practices, methodologies, tools, or project outcomes that can be adopted or adapted by the wider community and support departments and researchers in addressing common organisational and strategic challenges.
  • Voices: policy positions, informed opinions or more personal or provocative contributions stimulating debate and reflection on Informatics in Europe.

Contributions should address topics of strategic relevance to the European Informatics research and education community. 

Article submission guidelines

  • Length: approximately 1000 words, excluding graphs, pictures, captions and references (max. 4 pages all included).
  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
  • Language: UK English, written clearly for a broad informatics audience.
  • References: may be included and should be clearly labelled or placed at the end of the document.
  • Author(s) information: name and institutional affiliation should be provided.
  • Summary: ideally 150–250 words, comparable to a journal abstract, which will be published on Zenodo.
  • Keywords: 4–6 keywords describing the article to be included in the Zenodo record.

Deadlines

  • January issue: submissions due by the end of October
  • June Issue: submissions due by the end of April
