IE announces the latest update of its Informatics Higher Education Data Portal, now including data from the 2023/24 academic year and extending coverage to Iceland, in collaboration with colleagues at Reykjavik University.
Spanning 14 academic years and 25 European countries, the Portal provides a unique longitudinal overview of Informatics education in Europe. It offers detailed statistics on student enrolment and degrees awarded at Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels, with systematic gender-disaggregated data. For selected countries, the Portal also includes comparative information on academic positions, employment conditions and estimated salaries, updated with the latest available data.

The Portal enables Informatics Europe members to ground institutional strategies, policies and planning in robust evidence. It supports benchmarking against European peers and informs fact-based discussions with institutional leadership and policymakers. This pan-European overview of Informatics higher education is only possible through IE’s sustained coordination across European institutions and countries, and the valuable contributions of our Data Portal collaborators.
The value of the Portal is further demonstrated through recent analytical reports, developed by the IE Data Analysis & Reporting Working Group: Bachelor-Level Informatics Education in Europe: Key Data & Trends (2018/19–2022/23) and European Informatics Retention and Graduation Rate Report. Further analyses and reports are encouraged—at individual institutions and through joint efforts within the Data Analysis & Reporting Working Group—join here.
