AIM-PRO (AI Literacy for Multidisciplinary Professional Readiness and Outreach) project has officially launched, kicking off a three-year collaboration to advance responsible AI skills across education, training and professional environments in Europe.

AIMPRO launch

Coordinated by the University of L’Aquila (Italy), the EUR 1.5 million Erasmus+ Alliances for Innovation project brings together 14 partner organisations from nine EU countries. Informatics Europe joins this partnership as an associated member, leading dissemination efforts and mobilising expertise in its European informatics academic network. Supported by the Swiss mobility agency Movetia, Informatics Europe also ensures Swiss educational and professional perspectives are integrated into the project.

As artificial intelligence increasingly transforms education, work and society, AIM-PRO addresses the growing need for accessible, human-centred and multidisciplinary AI education. The project will support higher education institutions, vocational education and training (VET) providers and SMEs with innovative frameworks, learning resources and digital tools to foster responsible and effective AI use. The project runs until February 2028.

Building AI Skills for Europe

AIM-PRO unites expertise from academia, vocational training, industry and innovation networks to foster a coordinated European approach to AI literacy and future-oriented professional skills.
The project focuses on three strategic dimensions:
  • AI Knowledge and Digital Skills:  support the understanding and responsible use of AI technologies.
  • Sustainable and Ethical AI Practices: promote environmentally conscious and human-centred AI practices.
  • Innovation, Resilience and Entrepreneurship: help learners and professionals develop adaptable and future-ready competencies.

Through collaboration and co-creation, AIM-PRO will develop openly accessible educational frameworks, AI literacy resources, pedagogical guidelines, digital tools and certification pathways tailored to the needs of higher education, VET and industry stakeholders. By incorporating national and sector-specific perspectives, AIM-PRO ensures its outputs are practical, inclusive and adaptable across diverse educational and professional contexts in Europe.

“AIM-PRO is designed to turn AI literacy into something practical and accessible across very different educational and professional contexts in Europe. By bringing together diverse expertise, we aim to support educators, learners and professionals in building the skills needed for a rapidly evolving AI landscape,” says Prof. Antonio Bucchiarone (UDA), AIM-PRO’s Scientific Coordinator.

Kick-Off Meeting in L’Aquila

The AIM-PRO kick-off meeting gathered representatives from 15 partner organisations to formally launch the collaboration and initiate joint activities across the project’s seven work packages.
During the meeting, partners aligned on the project’s objectives, work plans and expected outcomes, while discussing current AI literacy challenges and stakeholder needs across Europe. Initial discussions focused on the development and pilot implementation of educational resources and tools for higher education, vocational training and professional contexts.

Informatics Europe’s Role in AIM-PRO

Informatics Europe brings to the AIM-PRO consortium its expertise in Informatics higher education, pan-European collaboration and community building in Informatics education and research.
Through its network of 200 member institutions across Europe, Informatics Europe provides broad insight from the European higher education and research landscape, helping to ensure that the project reflects diverse national contexts and institutional realities. Informatics Europe Working Groups, particularly in the areas of Education Research, Ethics and Green ICT, provide expert input for the development and validation of educational frameworks, AI literacy resources, and recommendations on responsible AI adoption, digital skills, and sustainable technology practices.
The association also leads communication, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement activities, leveraging its established channels, events, networks and policy outreach activities to strengthen AIM-PRO’s visibility and long-term impact across Europe.

At the same time, Informatics Europe, supported by Movetia, brings a distinct Swiss perspective to the project, complementing contributions by partners in other countries. The association will implement Switzerland-specific communication and engagement activities to ensure Swiss educational, professional and policy perspectives are reflected in the project’s discussions, resources and outcomes.

Institutions, educators, trainers and organisations interested in AI literacy and responsible AI adoption are encouraged to follow the project’s activities through Informatics Europe and the AIM-PRO communication channels.

About the Project

AIM-PRO (AI Literacy for Multidisciplinary Professional Readiness and Outreach) seeks to bridge this gap by developing innovative, multidisciplinary educational frameworks that integrate AI literacy with Open Education, Generative AI, Model-Driven Engineering and Digital Twin technologies.

AIM-PRO equips educators, learners, and professionals with digital, green, and resilience skills, promoting the responsible use of AI. By focusing on AI literacy, sustainable innovation, and the intersection of AI with entrepreneurial competencies, the project aims to co-develop AI literacy resources tailored to the needs of higher education institutions, VET providers, and SMEs.

Project Partnership

Funded by the European Union and Movetia, AIM-PRO is an Erasmus+ project bringing together 15 partner organisations across Europe. The full list of project partners is available on the project website
