Helsinki Institute for Information Technology
The Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT) is seeking Postdoctoral Fellows to join the Helsinki region information technology research community. The position is intended support early-career researchers on their road towards being independent researchers, in collaboration with one or more supervisors in HIIT Faculty. The position gives the fellows excellent opportunities for high-quality and high-impact research and for creating research networks supporting their careers.

Who we are
Helsinki Institute for Information Technology is a strategic partnership between Aalto University and the University of Helsinki – two internationally leading universities in computer science and information technology. Both are located in the Helsinki Metropolitan area, and the employing university will be determined by the supervising professor. HIIT has the aim to boost fundamental and applied information technology research that makes a difference in the real world. HIIT facilitates research, impact, and collaboration activities in the Helsinki IT research community and offers funded post-doctoral researcher positions for excellent young scientists.

Review timeline
We will begin interviews for shortlisted candidates mid-April and continue interviews until the end of April. Accepted candidates will be notified by mid-May.

All applicants should include all of the following attachments to their application.
Required attachments:
(1) Cover letter (1-2 pages in length) which includes the intended research area and how you intend to contribute to the field. If you have a potential supervisor(s), you should clearly state your motivation for applying to work with said supervisor, how you could contribute to the research produced by the supervisor and research area, and other relevant information.
(2) Preliminary Research Plan (3-5 pages in length) which includes background information, research objectives and methods, possible hypothesised results, possible collaboration, and any other key information.
(3) CV including a List of publications (please do not attach full copies of publications)
(4) A transcript of doctoral studies and the degree certificate of the doctoral degree. If you have not completed your doctoral degree, we expect you to have completed the degree before starting the position. In lieu of the degree certificate, you should include a plan of completion that clearly explains your intended date of graduation.
(5) Contact details of possible referees from 2-3 senior academic people. We will contact your referees, if recommendation letters are required.
